4. Weather

Give yourself a few extra minutes to arrive at your destination and avoid driving when conditions are not satisfactory to your comfort and skill level.
5. Age
Teen drivers, or drivers between the ages of 16 – 19, cause the most motor vehicle accidents due to their inexperience. Teens should always complete a defensive driving course before they receive their driver’s license.
6. Reckless Driving
Running red lights, racing other vehicles, improper lane changes, and speeding all fall into the reckless driving category. These factors also cause accidents that are easy to avoid if you obey the driving rules that you were taught before earning that driver’s license for the first time.
7. Drugs
As marijuana is legalized in many states, more people are driving while intoxicated with this substance. Other drugs like heroin, methamphetamines, and cocaine also contribute to drugged driving and accidents as a result. It is best to avoid drug use altogether, but by all means stay at home if you choose to use them.
8. Vehicle Damage
Tire blowouts are also responsible for many vehicle accidents. Ensure the tires on the vehicle are properly inflated before departure and always replace tires when the tread is worn. It’s better to be safe than to be sorry.
